The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has approved the P1.478 billion expansion of the UP Science and Technology Park in Diliman, Quezon City for the construction of additional IT buildings.

The expansion project involves the construction of additional four IT buildings with a gross floor area of 46,520 square meters for lease to locators.

The science and technology park is being developed by the Ayala-owned UP North Property Holdings Inc.

It is located in a 37.5-hectare property along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

The UP Science and Technology Park was cited by President Gloria Arroyo for giving the government’s bid to become an IT hub a big boost with the establishment of more technology and technology-based industries.

"It is one giant step to bring our country closer to goal we declared in 2001 of making technology the foundation of our economic development," the President said.

The government has also invested P3 billion in R&D and manpower development and another P1 billion to build UP to build its own science and technology complex.
