Convergys becomes Cebu's largest BPO outfit with new contact center

MANILA, Philippines - Convergys Corp., said it is now the largest business process outsourcing (BPO) center in Cebu City as it opened its newest integrated contact center facility there.

The new, state-of-the-art Cebu i3 contact center, encompassing over 50,000 square feet, employs approximately 1,000 personnel. The facility, which features a unique, built-in recruitment center, is conveniently located near the Cebu Business Park and local colleges and universities in Metro Cebu.

Convergys now has over 3,300 employees in three contact center facilities in Cebu City.

“Convergys’ new Cebu Asiatown i3 facility is a wonderful addition to our presence in the Philippines, especially with this new contact center, as we are now the largest BPO provider in Cebu City,” said Marife Zamora, Convergys vice president and country manager.

“The tremendous dedication and support that our employees bring to work everyday is reflected in the continued business demand from our US-based clients wanting to house their customer support operations in the Philippines. We are also looking forward to the opening of two other Convergys facilities to support this demand,” she added.

Last year, Convergys said it will expand its operations in the country by opening five call centers which will create 7,000 more employment opportunities. The other two centers are in the UP-Ayala Land TechnoHub in Quezon City, and the Nuvali TechnoHub in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The company said it was on track with these plans and was forging ahead with the establishment of two more sites, still under construction, over the coming months.

With the completion of the three additional centers, Convergys will bring to 12 its operational contact center facilities in the country with approximately 16,000 employees.

The Nuvali TechnoHub is a ‘green’, environmentally-friendly facility that will accommodate approximately 900 employees. This is the first contact center facility for Convergys in Sta. Rosa, a fast-growing city south of Manila.

The UP-Ayala Land TechnoHub site can hold up to 1,000 employees and will be Convergys’ seventh center in Metro Manila.
