The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday the construction of the Lope De Vega-San Isidro Road Project was nearly complete.
According to DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., the project would boost the new tourism plan being developed by the Department of Tourism for the province of Samar.
DPWH Undersecretary Rafael Yabut, in charge of Visayas operations said that the programmed Lope De Vega-San Isidro Road construction was already 77.8 percent complete and is expected to be completed before December this year.
"Once completed this new road network will serve as the main access road to four water falls sites, namely: Busay Falls, Kangpungkol Falls, Ogsad Falls and Pangaselian Falls in San Isidro, Eastern Samar" Yabut said.
Yabut also added that this project would not only boost the tourism industry in the five identified barangays in the area but it will also provide investment livelihood opportunities among their residents.
The Lope De Vega-San Isidro Road Project has a total of 44.25 kilometers of road which includes the construction of a 720 lineal meters of bridge.
To date, the district office is currently conducting road opening works along the two-kilometer mountainous terrain in San Isidro.
