DOTC bids out works for Legazpi airport

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is bidding out a P1.71-billion contract for the construction of a new passenger terminal building and to extend the runway of the new Legazpi Airport in Daraga, Albay. 
In an invitation to bid, the DOTC said the Bicol International Airport development project involves the construction of a passenger terminal building, including arrival and departure lounge, as well as the completion and extension of the runway. 
The project also covers site development works such as the service, parking, entrance, and terminal roads as well as the perimeter drainage and detention pond. 
To qualify, the DOTC said prospective bidder should have an experience of having completed at least one contract worth P359.25 million for civil works and P496.55 million for building works. 
The agency added the bidding would be conducted through open competitive bidding procedures using the non-discretionary pass or fail criteria under RA 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act. 
The DOTC stated the bidding is restricted to Filipino citizens or sole proprietorships, partnerships or organizations with at least 75 percent interest belonging to citizens of the Philippines. 
Deadline for the submission of bids is on July 24. 
The DOTC earlier earmarked P781 million for the construction of landside facilities as well as the construction of several buildings including the operation and control tower for the new Legazpi Airport. 
The project involved the construction of buildings including administration, cargo terminal, crash fire rescue, power house, and maintenance buildings as well as material recovery facilities, pump house and water tank, chilled water pump house, fuel storage tank, chlorination house, among others. 

The DOTC is bidding out the development as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) of five regional airports worth P108.2 billion under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) program.
