Construction Show Manila 2008 or Manilacon 08 will open today at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia complex to highlight a resurgence of the local property business.
Expected to be at the opening ceremonies are leaders and members of various trade professional organizations, construction industry related agencies and other major industry players and personalities.
The exhibit, featuring a wide array of building solutions and innovations, will feature major attractions including a mock up of LuzViMinda ECO House, a case study targeting 25 percent more energy efficient home based on UK Code for Sustainable Homes adopted in the Philippine setting.
The UK Code measures sustainability of a home based on 9 categories such as energy and CO2 emissions; water, materials; surface water run-off; waste; pollution; health and well-being; management and ecology.
Also lined up is a seminar on Green Building Design Technology and Techniques from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
Presented in partnership with the Green Architecture Movement of the United Architects of the Philippines, the seminar will provide its target audience with invaluable insights on green design technologies applicable to the local setting. It will cover five categories namely, site, building, plumbing, electrical and materials.
For private constructors, city engineers and administrators of the local government units, the Construction Industry Authority of Philippines shall conduct an orientation on Constructors Performance Evaluation System from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
CPES is a method of evaluating the performance of a constructor based on a uniform set of criteria. Its implementation yields multifold benefits which include the elimination of incompetent constructors and the strict compliance of constructors with environmental, safety and health concerns.
