DENR implements revamp

Atienza says move to ensure enforcement of environmental laws

Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Jose L. Atienza Jr. yesterday announced a revamp of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional officials, as part of the DENR’s efforts to ensure a more effective and efficient enforcement of environmental laws.


In DENR Special Order 2009-01 issued yesterday, 16 regional executive directors (RED) were transferred or retained from their current positions for the "organizational development" of the agency.


Three officials were retained, Nilo Tamoria (Calabarzon), Marcial Amaro Jr. (Mimaropa), and Joselin Marcus Fragada (Bicol region).


Seven regional officials were reassigned. They are Regidor de Leon (from Central Luzon to Eastern Visayas), Corazon Davis (from the National Capital Region to Ilocos region), Leonardo Sibbaluca (from Eastern Visayas to Central Visayas), Ernesto Adobo Jr. (from Zamboanga Peninsula to Northern Mindanao), Maximo Dichoso (from Northern Mindanao to Zamboanga Peninsula), Ricardo Calderon (from Davao region to Western Visayas), and Jim Sampulna (from Socsargen (South Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos City area to Davao region).


Six new officials were named by the DENR. They are Primitivo Galinato Jr. (Cordillera Administrative Region), formerly detailed at the Legal Division of the Forest Management Bureau; Laureano Lingan Jr. (Cagayan Valley), formerly Regional Technical Director for Forestry; Antonio Principe (Central Luzon), formerly with the Office of Undersecretary for Field Operations; Jose Andres Diaz (NCR), formerly Assistant Director of Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau; Raquil-ali Lucman (Socsargen), formerly Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer for Misamis Occidental); and Edilberto Buiser (Caraga region). Atienza said they were ordered to immediately report to their new assignments on Jan. 9 (Friday).


Six officials without regional assignments were directed to report on Jan. 9 to the DENR Office of the Chief of Staff for instruction and assignment. They are Samuel PeƱafiel (former CAR chief), Victor Ancheta (Northern Luzon), Clarence Baguilat (Cagayan Valley), Lormelyn Claudio (Western Visayas), Celso Loriega (Central Visayas), and Benjamin Tumaliuan (Caraga region).
