THE famous Session Road will soon be "pedestrianized" as City Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. is pushing for conversion of one lane of the road into a green lane.
The green lane will start at the Baguio Post Office up to the whole downward stretch of Session Road.
"There will be no stopping on this lane, it will be through and through," Bautista said.
There will be exit points along the road in Assumption and Mabini Streets marked as orange.
Vehicles will not be allowed to pass on the upward side of the road and will instead serve as parking spaces marked as yellow lanes.
Bautista said the conversion of the green lane is a move towards "pedestrianization" of Session road.
He explained the green lane will also erase doubts of residents that he implemented the one way traffic scheme to benefit a big mall on top Session road.
He disclosed the project is in cooperation with Bishop Carlito Cenzon and a group called Ecademe.
Ecademe is a group of professors and students who are supportive of the "pedestrianization" of Session road.
Bautista said he is also envisioning to put a bike lane in the green lane to promote an environment-friendly city.
The implementation of the Green Lane will start on Dec. 1.
