Some 300 land titles have been distributed to several home owner associations in Puerto Princesa City Friday, Vice President Jejomar Binay announced.
In a statement, Binay, who chairs the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), said 120 of the 300 land titles distributed were under the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) of the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC).
The remaining land titles were distributed to 140 families after they settled their accounts with different housing agencies.
“Government is doing its part to help realize your dream for a house of your own but only you can make it come true,” Binay said.
The National Housing Authority (NHA) has allotted P30 million for this project which benefitted 800 families,” he added.
The Vice President also said that another 300 land titles are being processed by the NHA for the beneficiaries of Hacienda de Panacan under Presidential Decree 574.
“While you have not received the land titles, I laud you for faithfully paying the monthly amortizations. Rest assured that we will speed up the processing of requirements so the register of Deeds could release your titles,” he said.
Binay lauded the province of Palawan for being one of the most active local government units in implementing CMPs. Citing figures from the SHFC, he said more than 7,600 families have already benefited from CMPs in Palawan. He also cited the high collection efficiency rate of the province.
“Many were given houses and lots but did not take care of them. Others neglected to pay their amortizations but complained when they were evicted,” he said.
“Starting today you are no longer informal settlers but landowners,” he added.
