BACOLOD CITY -- The Ayala
Land-controlled Seda Hotel chain is considering expanding its network to this
city upon the completion next year of× Atria in Iloilo, its first property in
the Visayas.
“We are studying the viability of
opening a hotel here because we believe Bacolod City is a potential location
for our Seda hotels,” said Andrea Mastellone, Seda group general manager.
“We would love to have a Seda flag in
Bacolod. We are working on it and hopefully one day we will,” he added.
Mr. Mastellone was here last week to
introduce Seda, a hotel brand of Ayala Land Hotels and Resorts Corp., to
members of the National Association of Independent Travel Agents in Negros
Occidental province.
He said Seda Atria in Iloilo will open
in time for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings next year.
Iloilo has been chosen to host two meetings.
The Iloilo hotel is among six
properties that Seda will open in the next four years to provide an nearly
2,000 additional rooms. The others are Seda Vertis North in Quezon City; Seda
Circuit in Makati City; Seda Arca South in Taguig City; Seda Lio in Northern
Palawan City; and Seda City Gate in Makati City, which is targeted to open in
2018.
“We are also looking at many other
destinations in the Philippines,” Mr. Mastellone said.
There are currently four Seda hotels
providing a total of 665 rooms in Ayala-owned mixed-use developments in
Bonifacio Global City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and Nuvali, Laguna.
Mr. Mastellone said Seda is the first
hotel brand in Asia to be named a Certified “Gold Service” Property by the
American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute. -- Chrysee G. Samillano
