Tiñga warns site developers

TAGUIG Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga yesterday warned property developers in the city to strictly implement safety measures within their construction sites to protect the public and their workers.

He issued the warning after a heavy equipment operator died following a freak accident at the JDBEC project site in McKinley Hills, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.

“We welcome the continuing development in our city through this various constructions. But the safety of the workers and our residents always comes first. Our site developers need to comply with the safety measures or face consequences,” Tinga said.

Ayob Sampayan, 42, of Barangay Maharlika Village, was driving his payloader at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday when he, fell off a hole at the project site.

He was declared dead on arrival at the Rizal Medical Center.

Taguig police chief Supt. Alfred S. Corpus noted the poor lighting and the absence of warning devices at the project site during an ocular inspection.
