A REAL estate firm would put up a P300-million eco-tourism facility in Pola, Oriental Mindoro, in partnership with the municipal government. Ibayo Island Resort Corp. has signed foreshore lease and joint venture agreements with the municipality of Pola for the 65-hectare Polacay Island and Adventure Resort project on Kabilang Ibayo Island.
Kabilang Ibayo, which is also called Polacay Island, would be developed to become an alternative tourist spot to nearby popular hangout, Puerto Galera.
Roderick Ongcarrenceja, Ibayo Island Resort president, said the development would start this month, and would span three years.
The initial phase would involve the construction of clustered cottages, hotels and villas with rooms running to 132 and a capacity of about 300 guests.
A resort—which would have an adventure park, a clubhouse, a fishing village, gardens, indoor and outdoor amenities, an infinity pool, a mangrove park, a wakeboarding facility, and a wildlife sanctuary—would also be constructed.
The company has commissioned Aidea Philippines Inc. to come up with the project’s master plan.
A portion of Kabilang Ibayo Island was designated to be an eco-tourism park under a presidential proclamation in 2006.
