SM Investments Corp., (SM Investments) is eyeing its 100th retail store before the end of the year, opening several more of its SM Hypermarket, SM Supermarket, and SaveMore stores nationwide.
The company yesterday opened SM Hypermarket-Adriatico, at the former Jai-Alai landmark in Malate, which is the company’s 21st Hypermarket store to date while several other stores are also eyed for unveiling.
At the retail group level, it currently has a total of 88 combined stores for the retail operation.
At the sideline of SM Hypermarket Adriatico’s launch, Hypermarket executive vice president Robert Kwee said two more stores are in construction which would bring the company’s total Hypermarket stores to 23 by year-end.
Kwee declined to identify the location of the two new stores citing the still unclear timetable for these stores’ unveiling.
SM Investments in a statement said that the 4, 0000 sq.m. SM Hypermarket Adriatico "brings a new face to Adriatico as it boasts of a ‘first’ in SM Hypermarket history," given the new design it is sporting compared to other SM Hypermarket stores.
"SM Hypermarket Adriatico caters to shopping needs of condominium dwellers and community residents... The newly opened store has a Big Packs area where nearby food stall, restaurants and hotels can get their kitchen and food supplies," it added.- Albert Castro
