The government plans to hold more
roadshows overseas to aggressively promote the Philippines as a major
retirement destination, a high-ranking official of the Philippine Retirement
Authority said.
PRA general manager Veredigno Atienza
said the roadshows and conferences would be focused on China, South Korea and
Japan, as these three East Asian countries are the country’s leading source of
foreign retirees.
“PRA is leveraging developments in
age-friendliness, tourism, healthcare and DoT’s ‘It’s more fun in the
Philippines’ campaign to boost the Philippine position further in the
international retirement rankings,” he said.
Atienza said the best way to get
reputable international publicity was to get recognition of respected
international magazines.
He said the Philippines needed to
compete with global competitors which were offering more aggressive retirement
programs. He said PRA would soon launch more product innovations aimed to
attract more retirees to the country.
He said the Philippines was aiming to
attract up to 10 million foreign retirees in six years.
