The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the
Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) officially proclaimed on Friday the posh
Ayala-Alabang village in Muntinlupa City as drug-free.
Lawyer Arly Agtay of PDEA and Undersecretary Aileen Matibag,
representing the DDB, led the ceremonies formally declaring Barangay
Ayala-Alabang as free from the menace of illegal drugs.
The declaration was witnessed by Barangay Chairman Ruben Baes and
City Councilor Lester Baes who represented Mayor Jaime Fresnedi.
In declaring Barangay Ayala-Alabang as drug-free, Agtay noted that
the city’s police force has no record of drug-related apprehension in
the area for the past several months.
Senior Supt. Gerardo Umayao, chief of Muntinlupa City police, confirmed Agtay’s statement.
In a text message, Umayao told the Daily Tribune that there was not a
single drug-related apprehension in Ayala-Alabang for the past three
months.
Matibag stressed that the barangay has seriously adhered to the DDB
Regulation 3 series of 2017 in relation to Department of Interior and
Local Government Memorandum Circular 2012-94, requiring the creation of
Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
The PDEA and DDB likewise recognized the barangay hall of
Ayala-Alabang as a drug-free workplace because it carried out concrete
programs and actions to end drug problems, including compulsory
drug-testing of the barangay officials and personnel.
