Novotel Manila Araneta Center, a
P2.5-billion hotel venture between the Araneta Group and Accor, the leading
hotel operator in the Asia-Pacific, will soon rise in Quezon City.
Araneta Center vice president for
marketing Cecile Marvilla said in an interview following the first pouring of
concrete ceremony for the upper-midscale Novotel Manila Araneta Center that the
construction of the hotel was on track for completion by early 2014.
The 415-room hotel is located within
the 90-hectare Araneta Center, a commercial, entertainment and multipurpose
complex owned and managed by the Araneta Group in Cubao, Quezon City.
Marvilla said the Novotel, which will
be the first deluxe businessman’s hotel development in Quezon City, will cater
to local and foreign businessmen as well as the middle-income market.
Its strategic location at the
intersection of two major thoroughfares–Edsa and Aurora Boulevard–and major
mass railway lines will position the hotel as the preferred venue for product
launches, political summits, weddings and conventions in Quezon City
Once completed, the hotel will boast
of a 600-square meter ballroom, meeting facilities and upper market
restaurants.
Marvilla said Novotel would have a
special suite housing concert artists performing in the nearby Araneta
Coliseum.
The Araneta Group is bullish of the
hotel sector given the expected increase in tourism arrivals.
Accor, meanwhile, is the largest
operator of hotels in the Asia-Pacific with more than 480 in the region. It has
nearly 400 Novotels in major cities around world, including New York, Paris,
London, Melbourne, Singapore, Bangkok and Shanghai.
Novotel is one of Accor’s several
on-going development projects. The others are the construction of the 18-tower
Manhattan Garden City in partnership with Megaworld Corp., and an office
building Gateway Tower.
