BUTUAN CITY — A P200-million Carrascal-Claver road section in Surigao is set to start its ground works next week, this was learned yesterday.
Northeastern Mindanao Public Works and Highways Regional Director Romeo S. Momo said the bidding of the project was just completed and already awarded to the winning contractor.
"We are right of schedule," said Momo.
Last week, President Arroyo inaugurated the newly finished and concreted P146-million San Agustin-Marihatag section in Surigao del Sur.
The completed San Agustin-Marihatag section and the Carrascal-Claver section are both part of the P1.3-billion Surigao-Davao Coastal Road.
These roads serve as vital link not only between the two Surigao provinces but also between Davao and Compostela Valley provinces and cities," Momo said.
He said once the Surigao-Davao Coastal Road project is completed, it is expected to spur the economic growth of the two regions – Southern and Northeastern Mindanao – and neighboring regions by strengthening economic linkages between nearby provinces.
