STARTING on December all transactions in the old Rizal Capitol building in Barangay Ortigas in Pasig City will be transferred to its new location in Antipolo, the Rizal provincial government announced on Tuesday.
In an interview, Gov. Casimiro Ynares 3rd of Rizal explained that the owner of the lot in Ortigas Center, Ortigas & Co., who shouldered the expenses for the construction of a P270-million provincial capitol in Antipolo City that to be completed on December, made the transfer possible.
Site development and construction of the new building was started August last year.
The new provincial capitol will sit on a five-hectare lot at the Ynares Center in the said city and will house 2,008 employees.
Ynares said that the national offices were not provided with space in the capitol.
However, he said that the provincial government would provide them with office situated at Hilltop in Taytay Rizal—500 meters away from the new capitol.
Construction of the national offices in the province will take place next year, Ynares said.
He added that the funds to be used in the construction of national offices in the province would be taken from the financial assistance of Ortigas to the capitol when it vacates the area on December.
The province celebrated its 107th Araw ng Lalawigan ng Rizal with a weeklong that culminated on Wednesday last week a parade, street dancing and cultural shows at the Ynares Center, Antipolo City, in anticipation of future celebrations that will be centered at the said location. -- James Konstantin Galvez
