THE Las Piñas City government, led by Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar, yesterday announced that the city has adopted a “Citizen’s Charter” to cut red tape and fixers in government transactions.
Pursuant to the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 (RA 9485) and its implementing rules and regulations adopted by the Civil Service Commission last year, the city government has successfully reengineered transactions to speed up the delivery of its frontline services to the people.
“This is genuine service to the people where there are no fixers, no bribes, no corruption and no red tape. We have adopted a Citizen’s Charter to promote this,” Aguilar said.
“While it took days to get a business permit or license before, now it takes only 30 minutes to get one. Same with other services,” Aguilar added.
The law stipulates that no more than five working days be spent for simple transactions. In Las Piñas, applications for permits, licenses, assessment and similar requests are granted within the day as long as all requirements are fulfilled.
They have simplified the workflow and standardized fees.
The public is informed about the changes and they know exactly what their papers and documents are going through within a given service department. Redress and complaints are received and acted upon promptly.
