OUTSOURCING FIRM Sitel Philippines formally unveiled its biggest call center in the Philippines yesterday, increasing prospects for growth in the sector amid a global downturn.
The new call center at One Julia Vargas in Pasig has 2,000 seats. Sitel’s newest site in Metro Manila is a four-storey building with a floor area of more than 3,000 square meters.
Sitel now has six call centers in the Philippines four in Metro Manila and two in Baguio.
The call center has been operational since November 2007 but has just reached full capacity, serving Fortune 500 clients in retail, entertainment, financial services, telecommunication, and wireless industries.
Facilities include a 24-hour clinic, two basketball courts, a standalone cafeteria, male and female sleeping quarters, pantries for every floor, employee lounges, a "videoke" area, a small gym, shower rooms, training rooms, and boardrooms.
Sitel now has six sites in the country — four in Metro Manila and two in Baguio. It has more than 11,000 employees — 8,600 in Metro Manila and 2,600 in Baguio.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo unveiled the new site’s brass marker, together with American Sitel executives, Pasig officials, and representatives of the Trade department.
Sitel offers customer care and transaction processing services through 60,000 associates in 27 countries.
