Maynilad Water Corp., the concessionaire in charge of water distribution in the west zone, said it is spending P8 billion this year improve water services in the south.
Maynilad president Rogelio Singson said the company has yet to cover most of the southern part of their concession area, particularly Muntinlupa, some parts of Las PiƱas. Bacoor and Imus, Cavite.
Singson said that the company will invest roughly the same amount in the next three years.
He said the company expects to cover the whole southern part of their concession by 2011 or 2012.
The company would start off with the expansion in Muntinlupa which it expects to finish by next year.
Maynilad is the private concessionaire which won the exclusive right to take over the operations in the west zone of Metro Manila for 25 years.
At present, Maynilad has a total of 677,985 billed water services, equivalent to a population of around 6.2 million, in the west zone which covers nine cities and two municipalities in Metro Manila and one city and five towns in Cavite province.
