MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. assured Quezon City residents yesterday that they would be the main beneficiaries of the on going construction of the flyover that will connect the North Expressway to the C-5 Road.

Speaking before city hall employees during yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony, Belmonte said the city government has helped the Department of Public Works and Highways to speed up the completion of the project, which will serve as the gateway to the Northern and Southern Luzon.

“Quezon City will be the principal beneficiary of the extension of the C-5 Road segment from the University of the Philippines to Luzon Ave.,” he said.

The road project, which included the construction of a flyover along Commonwealth Avenue, will connect the North Expressway with C-5 Road, which is already connected to the South Expressway.

The extension of C-5 segment from UP to Luzon Ave. and would end at Road 10 in Navotas would interconnect the industrial district of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela City with Novaliches and Balintawak in Quezon City.

An increased in business activity in the area is expected with the linkage of the seaports in Manila and North Luzon Expressway all the way to the Special Economic Zones at Subic Bay in Zambales and Clark Field in Pampanga.

Belmonte said the completion of major infrastructure projects in Metro Manila is expected to trigger the further development of Quezon City with the increased trade and commerce.
