TAGUIG CITY is looking at collecting local fees next from firms registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) that are now operating in McKinley Hill CyberPark in Bonifacio Global City.
City Administrator Wilfredo C. Villar said in a phone interview earlier this week that he expects a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to be signed with PEZA next week. "An agreement covering the collection of fees for PEZA firms in other buildings such as Total Corporate Center and Market! Market! is being planned. The MoA to be signed next week should serve as a model for the two other locations," he said.
He said PEZA firms in the buildings will be charged local government regulatory fees for waste management, mayor’s permit, health certificate, exercise of profession, sanitary inspection and a local identification card, which entitles non-Taguig residents to certain health benefits.
In a separate telephone interview, April M. Al-raschid, area manager of the city government’s Fort Bonifacio Satellite Office, said they will ensure that the fees will be standard for all economic zones to be covered. "We will like to have same model for the four buildings to avoid comparisons among developers."
Last May 8, the city government signed a MoA with PEZA to collect such fees from the locators in E-Square I.T. Park.
Under the agreement, the PEZA locators have to pay the following fees to the city:
* quarterly waste management fee of P50-P1,000, depending on the aggregate area of the business;
* a P6,000 annual mayor’s permit fee;
* annual permit fee on exercise of profession of P300 per worker;
* an annual health certificate fee of P100 per person of managerial or supervisory rank, and P50 per person for rank and file;
* annual sanitary inspection fee of P50-P1,100 depending on the aggregate area; and
* P750 City Card fee for non-Taguig residents that offers free lab and other health benefits. — Louella D. Desiderio
