BACOLOD City government could not implement the takeover ordinance on Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation (Bredco) Port this year as long as the injunction ordered by the court is not lifted.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, chair of the City Council committee on laws, said Sunday that the City Government couldn’t implement the provisions of the Bredco Port takeover ordinance where the case is not yet finished, and until such time the injunction will be lifted.
“The decision is in the court; as long as the injunction order will not be lifted, the City Government could not implement the takeover ordinance on Bredco Port,” he said.
Ramos noted the City Council has already done its part on said issue as they had passed the ordinance for the City of Bacolod. He said the matter is now in the hands of the City Legal Office.
“The ball is in the hands of the City Legal Office if the they would file a motion to lift the injunction or the City Government will put up a bond twice the amount of the bond put up by the Bredco Port, then we can probably implement it, but what is important is the Court’s decision on the said case,” Ramos said.
He said the City Council is very much willing to implement the ordinance to realize its intent and spirit. (MAP)
