BACOLOD CITY -- Another site here for information technology investments is seeking accreditation with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT said in a statement yesterday.
The group identified the new site as the Grand IT Park, located in Gaisano City Bacolod.
The statement quoted PEZA Director General Lilia B. de Lima, who visited four presidentially proclaimed IT parks and centers here on Monday, as saying that Bacolod has become a good site for IT investments because of the active involvement of both the government and private sectors.
Ms. de Lima said PEZA has been promoting provincial locations such as Bacolod in order to decongest Metro Manila.
She visited Luxur IT Park, which houses Teleperformance; Lopue’s East IT Centre, site of Telequest BPO; East Block IT Park, location of Next Level IT Teleservices; and Robinsons Cybergate, home of Teletech.
Dennis Jalbuena, whose group developed East Block, the first Western Visayas IT park approved in 2006, said real estate developers recognized the need to build IT ecozones to help generate jobs for locals. -- NLG
