BACOLOD City,
Philippines – Property giant Ayala Land Inc. opened last Wednesday its newest
mall called The District North Point, a P1-billion retail and commercial
complex in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The District
is one of the components of a 215-hectare North Point Estate considered as the
“first large-scale, mixed-use, integrated, master-planned community in Negros,”
Ayala Land president Antonino Aquino said in a press briefing Wednesday.
“The North
Point Estate is the first of its kind in Western Visayas and the latest and
most exciting destination in Negros,” Ayala Land senior vice president Emilio
Tumbucon said in the same press briefing.
The District
has 20,968 square meters of gross floor area and a gross leasable area of
15,395 square meters, and will accommodate more than 100 stores, he said.
The
P1-billion investment for The District is part of the P4.5-billion investment
already poured into North Point Estate, with another P3 billion more in the
pipeline, or a total of about P7 billion in investment when the project is
completed in 2017, Tumbucon said.
“We’re just
starting… We’re just in first half of our investments… We feel very bullish and confident that The
District will also be accepted well by the market.”
The North
Point Estate is comprised of residential developments namely, Ayala North
Point, Verdana Homes Plantazionne, Verdana Homes Asyana, Avida Village North
Point, and Amaia Scapes North Point.
The estate’s
own retail center, The District, is ”a fitting complement to residential brands
in North Point,” Tumbucon said.
