SM Hotels and
Conventions Corp., a unit of conglomerate SM Investments Corp., said Tuesday it
will build a new hotel under the brand Park Inn by Radisson in Clark Freeport,
Pampanga.
SM Hotels
president Elizabeth Sy said in an interview at the sidelines of the Highlands
Prime Inc.’s meeting the hotel would be located beside SM Clark, a shopping
mall owned by sister company SM Prime Holdings Inc.
Sy said the
company was finalizing the details of the new hotel, which would be branded
Park Inn by Radisson.
The company
opened a 204-room Park Inn by Radisson in Davao City in March.
Park Inn by
Radisson is Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s full-service mid-market global brand
with 126 hotels throughout the world and 53 hotels under development.
Carlson
Rezidor Hotel Group is one of the world’s largest hotel groups and manages over
1,300 hotels in 81 countries and territories.
SM Hotels
said it was looking at other sites for future hotel expansion. It said among
the sites being considered were Bacolod and Iloilo.
SM Hotels
signed a management agreement with Hilton Worldwide for the latter to manage
the 350-room Conrad Manila at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City in March.
Conrad
Manila, the first Conrad Hotels & Resorts branded property in the
Philippines, will open in 2015.
Aside from
Conrad Manila and Park Inn Davao, other hotels under the company’s portfolio
are Radisson Blu in Cebu, Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay and Pico Sands at
Hamilo’s Pico de Loro Resort in Nasugbu, Batangas.
SM Hotels is
also the leading conventions operator in the country through SMX Convention
Center, which now has two outlets at the Mall of Asia Complex and Davao, and
Megatrade Halls in SM Megamall and SM City Cebu.
