Lagawe, Ifugao (5 April) -- In line with the goal of the national government to energize rural areas in the country, the Ifugao Electric Cooperative (IFELCO) was able to energize 168 barangays in the 11 municipalities here.

Ms. Jovy Allaga, IFELCO Senior Development Manager said that out of the 175 potential barangays in this province, IFELCO was able to energize the said number of barangays.

"We were able to accomplish 96% of our target as of this time," Allaga said adding that the total membership of the cooperative to date is 17,645.

Allaga also said that the municipality of Tinoc is using solar energy except Barangay Wangwang and part of Binoblayan which are using grid lines.

IFElCO General Manager, Engr. Jaime Pe Benito said that recently they were able to energize five more barangays in the municipality of Mayoyao thru the enhancement program of the National Electrification Administration (NEA). The barnagays are Palaad, Alimit, Langayan, Inwaloy and Nalbu.

Pe Benito also disclosed that the provincial government and Congressman Solomon Chungalao are shelling out some of their funds for the purpose.
