WNS of India, one of the world’s largest business process outsourcing companies, has established its presence in the Philippines by putting up a 200-seat call center in Metro Manila.

WNS, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, teamed up with Advanced Contact Solutions Inc., one of the top BPO service providers in the country, to establish the joint venture firm, WNS Philippines, which will initially operate a delivery center in Manila.

ACS is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange.

In a news briefing at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City yesterday, Anup Gupta, chief operating officer of WNS, said the plan aimed to expand the company’s Philippine operations to represent at least 10 percent of its global business over the next three to five years.

WNS currently employs 18,000 people while ACS has 6,000 call center agents.

Gupta said the Philippine unit of WNS was part of the company’s expansion of its global delivery network.

“This expansion further enables us to bring a large high quality talent pool to help solve the business challenges of our clients while diversifying the geographic concentration of delivery,” he said.

Victor Endaya, president of ACS, said ACS’ partnership with WNS would allow it to embark on establishing a global footprint. “In this way, we can bring our clients good business practices and expertise in client and customer care,” Endaya said.

The two companies declined to disclose the investment involved in the new center.
