DENR personnel deputized as public land inspectors to meet target of 11,232 land titles in 2008

Tacloban City (June 15) -- Eleven regular personnel coming from the different field offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 8 were recently deputized as Public Land Inspectors, Ms. Purificacion Daloos, OIC of the Regional Public affairs office informed.

Regional Executive Director Alfredo Pascual said that the deputization is aimed to augment the existing force of public land inspectors who are currently rendering services pertaining to the disposition and acquisition of public lands in the Region.

RED Pascual administered the oath of office of the new public land inspectors coming from the different offices of DENR in the Region, after the said personnel underwent a refresher course on land management and disposition.

As newly deputized public land inspectors, these personnel shall prepare public land applications, accomplish final proof papers, prepare affidavit related to land claims, conduct preliminary, final and such other miscellaneous investigations excluding investigation of claims and conflicts cases on public lands application among others.

RED Pascual expressed hope that the deputized public land inspectors will be competent in the performance of their tough and critical job, as they have been subjected to stringent preparations before they were deputized.

All public land inspectors and other land management officers of the DENR are required to work hard in order to accomplish the Region's target of 11.232 land titles covering 8,986 hectares of lands mandated by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for distribution to qualified land applicants, this year.

The deputization of 11 new public land inspectors brings the number of deputized public land inspector to 85 who are working as frontliners in the Department's land titling services under the Handog Titulo Program.

The Handog Titulo Program is a poverty alleviation program of the government under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Administration. Giving land titles to qualified beneficiaries promote security of tenure of the subject land owners on the lands they are cultivating and enable them to focus on making their lands more productive, thus increasing their income.
