Aguinaldo, Ifugao (12 July) -- The Provincial government here and concerned line agencies distributed 100 titles of farm lands to farmers here and the adjoining municipality of Alfonso Lista.
Governor Teddy Bahuilat Jr. said that the activity, which is a joint effort of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Provincial Agriculture Office, made farmers here jubilant upon holding land titles of the farms they till.
Funded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) of the national government, the program covers the barangay of Posnaan here and Jolowon of Alfonso Lista.
Baguilat also disclosed that a total of P2.7M subsidy from the provincial government will be given to farmers for the purchase of fertilizer. "This is our way of helping the farmers cope up with the high prices of fertilizers," Baguilat said.
Baguilat also said that every farmer will be given P1,000.00 to augment the subsidy given by the national government which is P500. We advised the farmers to buy organic fertilizers which is being produced by ISCAF (Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry) in the municipality of Alfonso Lista.
According to Baguilat, the provincial government will provide a shredder to ISCAF which will help them shred materials for the fertilizer. We will also provide post harvest facilities such as multipurpose pavements and flatbed driers which is a new technology in drying palay or corn during rainy seasons, he said. (PIA-Ifugao)
