THE Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board has suspended the license to operate of a real estate developer following complaints from Pag-Ibig Fund members that its housing project in Rizal is defective and inhabitable.

HLURB Commissioner Romulo Fabul said the REDEVCO was also ordered to stop the construction of the second phase of the Mediterranean Heights Subdivision in Rodriguez, Rizal.

“We cannot allow REDEVCO to operate and build new houses pending the result of our investigation,” Fabul said.

He said Vice President and HUDCC concurrent chair Noli de Castro ordered the investigation of REDEVCO, owned by Jayson Pascual, following complaints from homeowners.

The homeowners asked De Castro to personally look into their other problems such as their electricity and water supply, security, and safety within their houses.

HLURB inspector Engineer Edwin Aquino revealed that power and water supply in the area haad been cut since July last year.

He said residents rely on water rationing while the municipal government allowed them to tap its power source.

The homeowners said their housing units have cracks and feared it might collapse in an earthquake.

Pag-Ibig Fund manager Cynthia Hansel said that a final demand to buy back the defective units was sent to Pascual last March, but the latter is yet to response.

“Noong March pa rin last year namin siya sinabihan na i-buyback ito pero wala siyang response,” Hansel said.

A dialogue was scheduled on May 22 for Pascual, homeowners, Pag-Ibig Fund representatives and officials of the municipal government, to discuss the problems.
