Local firm Global Village Mobile Network Corp. (GVMNC) has proposed to spend P12.5 billion for the development of a medical tourism enterprise that will be located at the Camp David of the East in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The planned venture has been approved to qualify for both fiscal and non-fiscal incentives by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza).

The firm intends to establish healthcare and wellness complex that will be built on a 25-hectare property inside the Camp David East, a proposed medical tourism economic zone.

Camp David Investment and Holdings Inc. has already filed its application for registration with Peza as developer and operator of the said zone.

Camp David will spend P318 million to develop a 52-hectare Medical Tourism Park where Global Village will be its first locator.

The Global Village facility will cater to Japanese elderly retirees, foreign travellers seeking medical procedures, cooperative groups and immediate community.

The proposed activity is expected to generate an annual sales estimated at P5.358 billion, with a job generation of over 2,000.

However, it was not specified in the Peza documents as to when the project will start, including its completion.

The Camp David project, meanwhile, is expected to attract locators engaged in five-star hotel operations, clustered home facilities for the Japanese elderly, country club complex, pavilion, satellite network hub facility, condominium and administrative housing.

The new econozone is located 70 kilometers from Batangas international seaport and 100 kilometers from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The facility is scheduled to be completed in November 2012.
