Low-cost housing developer BreezeWoods Development Corp. (BWDC) is looking at expanding its projects in the provinces of Cavite, Bulacan and Pampanga to help meet the huge housing backlog in the country.

BWDC president Francisco Buencamino noted a huge demand for economic housing in the Philippines, which refers to the segment of house and lot developments valued within a price range of P700,000 to P1.2 million per unit.

“We see the need to fill the gap in housing development in the Philippines, as provided for by Batas Pambansa 220, or the Socialized and Economic Housing Law,” Buencamino said during last week’s groundbreaking ceremony for the company’s newest project called BreezeWoods Dos Phase II located in Barangay Mambog I, Bacoor, Cavite.

Buencamino said BreezeWoods Dos Phase II project has been designed to provide housing to middle-income and low-income families, who want to have their own house and lot in an urban setting close to Metro Manila.

The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), headed by Vice President Jejomar Binay, earlier disclosed that the country has a housing backlog of 3.7 million units.

To address the problem, the government’s shelter agencies as well as private developers need to build 360,000 to 370,000 housing units each year to ensure that housing would be made available to homeless Filipinos.

Buencamino said this business activity of offering house and lot packages for the middle-income and low-income sector also serves as his company’s corporate social responsibility. “We don’t only build and sell houses. We create communities for people to live in,” he said.

“By doing this, we help the government in addressing the housing backlog of the country and providing ordinary Filipinos with decent living conditions. This for me is the essence of CSR,” Buencamino said.

BreezeWoods Dos Phase II, the eighth housing project of BreezeWoods, is an 8,251 square-meter property offering 88 two-story townhouse units, with an average lot area of 50 square meters and floor area of 46 square meters per unit.

The subdivision is located 20 kilometers from Makati City, or just a 30-minute drive via Molino Boulevard and Mambog-Palico Road from Makati and Roxas Boulevard in Manila.

The subdivision has its own open space with Gazebo hall, a playground, eight-meter road right of way, 6.5-meter inner roads, a material recovery facility, central rain water collection facility, overhead water tank, provision for future interconnection with Maynilad, and other amenities.
