The City of Manila will soon have a tall building after an ordinance was approved relaxing the ban on high-rise buildings.

In a simple ceremony, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim presented the symbolic key to the city to foreign investor Bernard Burch, Swiss ambassador of goodwill, who will build the tallest condominium building in the city.

Under Lim’s administration, the city has put up programs which encourage foreign investors to invest their resources and build businesses in Manila.

“Natutuwa ako dahil mayroong mga foreigner na nagtitiwala at naniniwala na magtayo ng negosyo sa Maynila,” said Lim who also graced the groundbreaking of the condominium recently.

The Birch Tower which is a 52-story archetype condominium building will be built in Malate.

“Bibihira ang mga ganitong pagkakataon na ang isang foreign investor tulad ni Mr. Bernhard Burch ay nagtayo ng gusali sa lungsod, ang kauna-unahan at pinakamataas na condominium building sa ngayon,” Lim added.

Chief of Staff and Media Bureau chief Ricardo “Ric” de Guzman, Mirobeni Property Holdings Inc. president Ramon Yabut, executive vice president George Malig Jr., AVP sales and marketing Julie Villareal and Lito Villareal were also present during Burch courtesy call on Lim at the Manila City Hall.
