City Council Secretary lawyer Lino Sandil expressed optimism over the new schedule of land values after the ParañaqueSanggunian Panlungsod approved Ordinance 11-11 last Oct. 13 covering building and improvements.
“It is much lower than that submitted by the City Assessor and very much lower than the actual value of land in Parañaque City,” he said.
He cited of B.F. Homes where the assessed value of land is only P2,000 while the actual figure was going between P8,000 to P10,000.
Sandil said the ordinance also extended relief to property owners in flooded areas in the recent typhoons for a 50 percent reduction of base value.
Another measure is being finalized for the benefit of retirees and senior citizens who may find difficulty in paying under the revised schedule.
Sandil commended Councilor Jason Webb and his colleagues for approving the ordinance and showing responsiveness to the needs of the people.
He said it was unfortunate that oppositors of the new schedule resorted to a coordinated attack to block the passage of the ordinance which was meant to ease the tax burden of residents.
