BALANGA CITY—Mayor Joel Garcia welcomed the opening of the Galeria Victoria Mall as jumpstarting big-ticket projects in 2012 through public-private partnership.

According to him, the retail hub augurs entry of more traders to Balanga, being accessible to Clark, Subic and Metro Manila with the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

“Balanga to SBMA is just almost 30 minutes drive away while, Clark takes about 45 minutes only,” he said. “Manila will take around one and a half hour only by car.”

Galeria Victoria Mall, was built by San Jose Builders Inc. of Jerry Acuzar, who hails from Balanga

Garcia said the mall is expected to earn P364 million lease payment for a period of 25 years after which the property will be transferred to the local government unit under the PPP scheme.

Two major lessors are Robinson’s Supermarket and Handyman, along with a string of business establishments.

Businessmen attributed the good investment climate to the leadership of Garcia, who after assuming the post in 2007, moved to boost the local economy.

Balanga City has been cited recently by Malacañang as Hall of Fame “Most Business-Friendly LGU”.
