Realty firm shifting focus

LUCIO TAN-OWNED Belton Communities, Inc. will tap Filipino workers based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, Dubai and Abu Dhabi as it expects slower demand from the US, which is experiencing an economic slowdown.

While US-based Filipinos are in the higher income bracket, the company is partially diverting its focus from the world’s biggest economy, said Tonton Gatuslao, Belton senior assistant vice-president for business development.

"This time around, we are focusing our international road shows on non-US markets, particularly Asia and Europe where there is a big concentration of Filipinos," he said.

This lower-income-bracket niche is also a perfect match for the firm’s affordable condominium project, Mr. Gatuslao said.

Belton Communities has launched North Belton Communities, an affordable mid-rise condo township near major malls in Quezon City.

North Belton Communities is within a 13.8-hectare prime lot along Quirino Highway in Novaliches.

It is accessible through main thoroughfares like EDSA, the North Luzon Expressway, Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora, Congressional Road and the MRT. — R.A.M. Rubio
