[Baguio] Sidewalk obstructions sidelined

OBSTRUCTIONS which used to make walking at the sidewalks of Session Road a hassle, are now nowhere in sight.

Some of these "obstructions" will not be seen, at least for the duration of the sidewalk's rehabilitation.

"We beg the indulgence of all concerned for the inconvenience caused by the project. We emphasize the ongoing project would serve the general welfare of our inhabitants and the public at large," Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr., said in an undated advisory addressed to the Baguio City District Engineering Office, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), the City Engineer, Jadewell Parking Corporation and newsstand owners.

Bautista ordered that all parking signs and fixtures will be removed and newsstands relocated.

The advisory was issued on the request of the AP Baldonado construction, contractor of the rehabilitation.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, parking signs, fixtures, and other structures including parking meters of Jadewell Parking Corporation were removed.

The mayor said this will only be temporary and will be returned after the rehabilitation. Jadewell's parking meters, which has not been used since installation will be kept at the City Engineer's Office for safekeeping.

Palo-palo bricks are currently being installed in the sidewalks of Session Road. (RO)
