MISAMIS ORIENTAL – A top official of a foreign company announced that they will be investing over R800 million in Nawaan town, in this province, for the construction of a copper processing plant and mining explorations.
During a recent meeting with local government officials of Nawaan, Ernesto Sebua, chairman of the board and manager of Singtech Mining and Trading Company, said that for the start of the project alone, they are already investing some R300 million.
"We still have many projects here in the municipality as soon as we can go fully operational," Sebua said
"We also have Magnetite sand exploration in other areas but we are concentrating our plant in this town because local officials welcome us so well," Sebua said, adding that the local government headed by Nawaan Mayor Dennis Roa is very supportive of the project.
He said he has already traveled all over the country but it is only in Naawan that their company is given due attention and support by the local executives.
"We are thanking the worthwhile efforts of Mayor Roa and other officials. They have been very supportive that we feel that it is right to establish our plant here in this town."
For his part, Mayor Dennis Roa said that the investment of Singtech Mining & Trading Company is a welcome development for the municipality since it would give opportunities for the people as well as more revenue for the coffers of the local government.
The Nawaan mayor said he will be giving his all-out support to the project, as he assured that local officials and his constituents will also be supporting the project.
