Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – The once lone congressional district of Agusan del Sur will be electing two House of Representative members during the May 2010 national elections after President Arroyo signed into law RA 95081 creating two congressional districts of the huge Agusan del Sur province.
This makes Caraga Region to have a total of nine congressional districts, namely; first and second district of Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Island District, first and second congressional district of Surigao del Sur, first and second district of Agusan del Norte and the two districts of Agusan del Sur.
Agusan del Sur is the biggest province in Caraga Region whose land area comprises nearly half or 47 percent of the entire total land area of the region yet for many years it has only one congressional district. – Ben Serrano
