GENERAL Santos City – Five officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region 12 were accused of approving fake land titles in connivance with a syndicate here.

Some 100 members of the Arise Christian Homeowners Association, Inc. complained against the modus operandi of the DENR officials, whom they alleged are behind the land dispute between land owners and the developer in the area.

A spokesperson of the homeowners association, who requested anonymity, said the five officials are personally conducting illegal surveying on the landholdings, particularly in Barangay Tambler.

The source refused to name the erring DENR officials at the moment for fear of his life. The source added that he has been receiving death threats.

The group’s representative also said that two prominent land owners are set to file charges against the DENR officials involved in the falsification of public documents on land surveys and titles at Sitio Banualan, Barangay Tambler.

He added that the syndicate, with the aid of DENR officials, duplicated the titles and surveys of the lands owned by prominent people in General Santos City.

The group urged Environment Secretary Lito Atienza to investigate the matter.
