Ecofuel Land Development Inc. (ELDI) plans spending about P6 billion for the development of a 24-hectare Ecofuel Agro-Industrial Ecozone facility in Sta. Filomena, San Mariano in Isabela.
The project received fiscal and non-fiscal incentives from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza), according to Peza director-general Lilia de Lima.
The firm intended to develop a facility that would serve the requirements for biofuel production of Green Future Innovations Inc. (GFII).
De Lima said the project which is about 30 kilometers from the airport of Cagayan is expected to generate jobs for 1,500 workers. Its construction will commence in the first quarter of next year and is scheduled to be completed by late 2011.
Over 20,000 farmers will benefit directly from the project as suppliers of raw materials. De Lima added projects like this are key to the success of the biofuels programs which aims to reduce carbon emission to ease climate change and to develop local sources of fuel to provide energy security.
GFII was established to produce 54 million liters of anhydrous ethanol and 85,000 megawatt hours of renewable electricity per year.
