Bonifacio Global City offers locators, residents cost-effective energy source

Sunday, March 23, 2008 [ manilatimes.net ]

More and more residents of Bonifacio Global City are now enjoying the convenience and the cost benefits provided by piped-in gas. In the 240-hectare business district, a network of underground pipes connect residential and commercial buildings to a centralized gas facility maintained by the Bonifacio Gas Corp.—a joint venture between Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum.

A number of condo dwellers appreciate the use of piped-in gas in response to the rising cost of electricity. “Because we are highly dependent on air-conditioning, clothes dryers and other appliances powered by electricity, condo dwellers like us inherently seek ways to slash our power bills,” according to a Bonifacio Global City resident.

LPG is the preferred cooking fuel because of the better values it offers. “At current prices and depending on the equipment use, LPG would bring about 40-percent savings over electricity,” said Edwin Laset, general manager of Bonigas.

Moreover, piped-in LPG is safe and efficient. Piped-in LPG ensures uninterrupted supply as the pipelines are linked to a centralized gas facility that is operated by Pilipinas Shell, one of the country’s largest producers of LPG. This facility conforms to international and local health, safety and environmental standards.

LPG is delivered through pipes made of medium-density polyethylene (MPDE), a non-corrosive and maintenance-free material that can withstand ground movement in the event of an earthquake. Further, a team of highly trained Bonigas servicemen is always on hand to assist the customers to install and inspect their equipment as well as to respond to emergencies.

To date, Bonigas supplies piped-in LPG to commercial establishments and residential buildings such as Pacific Plaza Tower, Serendra, Penthurst, Bonifacio Technology Center and Market! Market! mall. Beyond Bonifacio Global City, the firm also supplies piped-LPG to Eastwood Commercial Center.
