TACLOBAN CITY – The Leyte Tourism and Investment Promotions Center (LTIPC) has changed its strategy to promote the various tourism destinations in the province, it was reported.
It was announced that in response to requests, the weekend tour program being promoted by LTIPC is now made available on weekdays.
Nelieta Baguna, who heads the province’s LTIPC, said the new program was launched due to the increasing number of domestic tourists who want to visit the province’s tourist destinations during week days.
These tourists have expressed interest in the province’s cheap tour package offered by LTIPC.
Most of the interested people who opt for the week-day schedule, Baguna said, are those coming or gathered by some government agencies who regularly host regional or provincial assemblies or conferences.
Among these regional gatherings were the assembly hosted by the United Architects of the Philippines, the recent PESO Managers conference of the Region 8 office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE 8) and some visitors invited by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Baguna said that it is encouraging to note that the LTIPC is slowly achieving its goal of encouraging and promoting a culture of tourism, adding that tourism is a prime mover of economic activities.
She said that in the course of promoting LTIPC’s weekend tours, the clients no longer ask how much a tour package costs. In the past, some requested that it be given free because, they said, it is a program of the provincial government.
