MANILA, Philippines -- WNS Limited, a publicly-listed firm in the US, has opened an outsourcing delivery center in the country following a joint venture with local player Advanced Contact Solutions.
WNS is a global business process outsourcing (BPO) player with corporate offices in the US, UK and Mumbai, India. ACS, meanwhile, was established in 1996.
The joint venture company, WNS Philippines, will be majority owned by WNS. In a statement, the company said it intends to initially scale to 200 seats.
WNS' expansion to the Philippines is meant to take advantage of the country's large pool of high-quality BPO workforce while diversifying geographic concentration of delivery, said Anup Gupta, chief operating officer of the WNS Group.
According to research firm Frost & Sullivan, the Philippines is the third largest English-speaking nation in the world and produces around 350,000 college graduates each year.
Earlier this year, WNS opened a delivery center in Bucharest, Romania, which provides European language skills support and finance and accounting services for global clients.
