CANDELARIA, Quezon -- The Quezon II district engineering office (DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is stepping up the construction of new diversion road in this town in an effort to decongest vehicular traffic on the stretch of Maharlika Highway from Lucena City to Manila, it was reported.
Rep. Proceso J. Alcala (2nd district, Quezon Province) said that the government is intensifying the construction of the diversion road in Candelaria town to solve the traffic problem on Maharlika Highway while the Quezon eco-tourism road is not yet completed.
Alacala said that DPWH Quezon DEO under District Engineer (DE) Celestial S. Flancia will supervise the construction of 7.9-kilometer road which starts in Barangay Mangilag, this town and ends in Barangay Bucal, also this town.
The diversion road project was initiated by Alcala who worked for the release of funds from General Appropriation Act of 2008 in the amount of R543 million.
The congressman was with DE Flancia, Engineer Jeremias B. Licas and other DPWH engineers in inspecting the newly opened road in Barangay Mangilag.
