BAGAC, Bataan -- The P46-million Banaoang irrigation project, one of the priority undertakings of Rep. Abet S. Garcia (2nd district, Bataan) is now ready for implementation.
When in operation, the project will irrigate some 200 hectares of farms in this town.
Funded by Congressman Garcia’s priority development assistance program (PDAP), the project will benefit one of the five clustered barangays of the Bagac Agrarian Reform Council (ARC).
Bounded by the municipality of Morong in the northwest and South China Sea in the west, this town is some 25 kilometers from Balanga City and 151 kilometers from Manila.
Before the initiation of the sub-project under the ARCDP2-World Bank with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) as the lead agency and National Irrigation Administration (NIA) as the implementing agency, farmers tapped brush dams as the source of irrigation water, Garcia recalled. (Mar Supnad)
