PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III has appointed Manuel Sanchez as president of Home Guaranty Corp., the government corporation providing risk coverage and fiscal incentives to banks and financial institutions granting housing development loans and home financing.
He also appointed Antonio Nangel as acting administrator of the National Irrigation Administration.
Sanchez is a former undersecretary of the Interior Department and was a member of the Malcolm Law Firm.
Nangel previously served as operations manager of the NIA-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems.
Nangel, a career official who used to manage the Pantabangan Dam, the country’s largest irrigation system, was recently elevated to the NIA Hall of Fame for winning the most outstanding manager award.
The following were the other appointees:
• Marianita Mendoza as commissioner of the Social Security System representing the workers’ group. She used to be a member of the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Center and a former assistant national vice president for health services of the Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines
• Gloria Victoria Bañas as deputy administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority. She was a former assistant general manager of the Philippine Ports Authority.
• Leticia Gorospe as chairman of the Office of the Transport Cooperative under the Transport Department
• Raquel Desiderio as acting Transportation assistant secretary
• Florante Castillo, Danilo Fausto, and Magleo Adriano as Home Guaranty Corp. directors representing the private sector. Fausto is the owner of DVF Dairy Farm, which produces and markets carabao milk
• Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Amuerfina Reyes, Violeta Illescas, Jay Julian, Celeste Valderrama, and Cristina Quismundo as acting Directors IV and Joel Gonzales and Nicon Fameronag as acting Director III of the Labor Department
• Corazon Guray and Baldovino Valdez as Director IV and Director III, respectively, of the Interior Department
• Catherine Castañeda, Emmylou Yanga, Virgina Akiate, and Zenaida Gersana as Directors IV of the Commission on Higher Education
• Pedro Baliang, Crispulo Bautista, and Paz Mones as acting Regional Directors of the Agriculture Department
• Ronald de Jesus, Roger de Dios, Edilberto Arreza, and Alilo Ensomo Jr. as acting Regional Directors of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Environment Department
• Marianito Dimaandal as Director IV of the Office of the President. Joyce Pangco Pañares
