Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. has tapped the group of urban planner Francisco Mañosa to build a housing hub in San Antonio Village for city government employees.
He said the project is a tripartite agreement involving Home Development Mutual Fund and Mañosa Properties Inc., which is based in the locality.
“We are screening beneficiaries,” Bernabe said, targetting construction to start next year on a 19,232-square meter property on Sto. Domingo Street.
Engr. Oscar Fernandez, head of the local housing board, said 272 townhouse-type units would be built, with the city government shouldering land development together with the road and drainage system.
Mañosa, 2009 National Artist awardee for architecture, is known for landmarks such as The New Medical City Hospital building in Pasig City, the headquarters of San Miguel Corp. in Ortigas Center and the Mactan Shangri-la hotel in Cebu.
His portfolio includes projects in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Australia and US.
“Mayor Bernabe came up with this program to give our city hall employees the opportunity to have their own homes at affordable prices and terms, and with Architect Mañosa at the helm, they will get to experience living in style,” Fernandez said.
He said employees must be bona fide residents to qualify for the housing program on a monthly amortization for as low as P4,500 a month. Ferdinand Fabella
