PLANS TO open another hotel at the Resorts World Manila complex have moved forward as Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. has already sealed an initial management deal with a partner.
A FIFTH hotel is expected to rise at the Resorts World Manila after Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. closed an initial deal with a hotel manager to run a five-star facility.
The firm behind the entertainment complex has “entered into a memorandum of understanding with a major international hotel management company to manage the fifth and newest hotel in Resorts World Manila,” Travellers International said in a statement yesterday.
“After we conclude our final agreement over the next two months, Travellers will announce the new hotel brand. It will be no less than a five-star hotel,” Travellers International President Kingson U. Sian said in the same statement, hinting only that the management partner “has several successful global brands under its belt.”
The five-star hotel is expected have 350 rooms, bringing the total rooms in the complex to 2,200.
So far, the eight-hectare Resorts World Manila has the 342-room, five-star Marriott Hotel Manila and the six-star, 172 all suite hotel Maxims in Newport City. Budget hotel Remington and condotel Belmont Hotel in Newport City in Pasay are also slated to rise there.
Amenities at Resorts World Manila include the 1,500-seat Newport Performing Arts Theater, the Newport Mall, cinemas, casinos and spas.
Resorts World Manila, earned $71.2 million for Travellers International stakeholders Alliance Global and Genting Hong Kong on its first full year of operations in 2010 versus just $100,000 the previous year, an earlier filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange showed.
Shares in Alliance Global were unchanged at P11.64 each yesterday. -- N. J. C. Morales
